Lucky for you, you're in the right place. If you're a lover of Pentesting and security, kali is mostly what you need. But to perform most labs you'll need to install kali on a virtual machine especially if you're using it for test purposes. In this article, I'll show you how to install kali Linux 2022 on VirtualBox in just 3 steps, so stay tuned.

What is Kali?

Kali Linux is a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing.


So without further ado, let's get into our main topic

To install Kali Linux on VirtualBox, you'll just need to follow these 3 steps;

STEP 1: Download Kali

Go to Kali's official site and download the setup by clicking here as shown on the image below.



STEP 2: Import Kali in VirtualBox

  • Once downloaded, decompress the file in your desired location, 
  • Open VirtualBox and go click on the import button, 

  • Select the file and click next 






  • Click on import and wait for it to finish importing

If you haven't yet installed VirtualBox, click here and download the appropriate version for your system

STEP 3: Ready to Use

Once the import is completed, All necessary settings are already done for you, so just click on start as shown below and you are good to go.


Note!!

  • The default username and password is "kali" without quotes.
  • You'll also need a system with at least 4GB RAM for good performance, but a machine with higher RAM is preferable if you don't want any lag on your host machine.
